DEXA - Chow Zi Jie (11)

In my opinion, DEXA should be the best option for measuring body fat.
  • Since it is 99.9% accurate, it is able to tell a person accurately if he/she has an unhealthy amount of body fats.
  • Also, it is non-invasive and exposure to x-ray radiation are close to that of a normal x-ray. It has therefore no side effects.
  • Since procedures are almost the same as taking an x-ray, it takes much lesser time than other methods and results can be processed very quickly

  • However, going for DEXA test can be a financial strain, as it costs a lot of money per test.

Dexa - Praveen

I think the Dexa scan is the . This is because, the Dexa scan is 99% accurate and painfree. It is also easily accessible.

Most preferred method of fat measurement_Asritha.V(7)

In my opinion, DEXA Scan is the best method. Unlike other methods, it does not inflict pain on the person and it is easy to use as minimal participant’s participation is required. Moreover, it is relatively cheaper than other methods and is accurate.

Body Composition Measurement

In my opinion, the DEXA scan is the superior measurement technique to gauge the composition of the human body. It is extremely accurate with a 99.9% accuracy rate, and is painless and extremely quick. The result is also given very fast once the scan is completed.

Preference of fat measurement technique

I feel that the Dexa scan is the most efficient way to measure the amount of fats. This is because, not only it it very accurate (99.9%), however it is also painless, fast and simple to carry out. Therefore, this allows a large number of people to measure their fats without much trouble or time consumption and give the patients/subjects a very good gage of how much fats they need to lose/gain according to their results.

DEXA

1) I personally like the DEXA machine, as it is accurate, although it is really expensive to have a scan. It scans you from the head to tail, meaning nothing is missed out on. This ensures accurate diagnosis of any medical conditions, so that proper treatment can be applied. It has low radiation levels. One beam is high energy while the other is low energy. The amount of X-rays passing through the bone is measured for each beam. Due to difference between the two beams, the bone density can be measured.

Body Fat Percentage Measurement Methods_Rachit Agrwal (24)

There are many ways to measure body fat percentage.
However, I prefer the DEXA Scan.
The reasons are:
It is 99% accurate
It is very fast and efficient
It is also danger free
It has no side effects
Anyone can do it

However, there is a disadvantage to it
It is very expensive
Also it is not repeatable unless you are willing to spend $110 per week.

A short description of DEXA:
Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry known as DEXA is fast becoming the “new” gold standard of body fat measurement because it’s based on a three-compartment model that divides the body into total body mineral, fat-free soft (lean) mass, and fat tissue mass. Hydrostatic Weighing on the other hand only uses a 2 compartment model (fat free mass and fat mass).

DEXA also allows for body fat distribution analysis, so you can figure out with precision how fat is distributed in various parts of your body. In the past, DEXA was only used to measure bone mineral density for ostopenia and osteoporosis in older individuals. The procedure uses a body scanner with low dose x-rays, so it’s completely safe, and takes about 10-20 minutes.

Bod Pod-Kiran Chand

Body composition (particularly body fat percentage) can be measured in several ways.I like the Whole Body Air Displacement otherwise known as the Bod Pod.Whole-Body Air Displacement Plethysmography (ADP) is a recognized and scientifically validated densitometric method to measure human Body composition. ADP is based on the same principles as the Gold Standard method of Hydrostatic weighing, but through a densitometric technique that uses air displacement rather than water immersion. Air-displacement plethysmography offers several advantages over established reference methods, including a quick, comfortable, automated, noninvasive, and safe measurement process, and accommodates various subject types (e.g., children, obese, elderly, and disabled persons)
